SM������ and Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI) announce the full-tuition NABI Foundation Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. – SM������ Scholarship

Tribal recipient can pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree at SM������

The (NABI) and are pleased to announce the full-tuition NABI Foundation Ernest L. Stevens, Jr.– SM������ Scholarship. The scholarship is named after NABI’s current Chairman Ernie Stevens, Jr., MM, who has dedicated most of his life supporting tribal education, sports, and gaming. He has been active in supporting NABI on many levels since its inception in 2003, is a graduate of the SM������ Master of Management program and is also serving in his 21st year as the Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association.

“While earning my master’s in management degree at the SM������, the Tribal Specialists were invaluable with support and provided resources that helped me stay engaged and on track for graduation,” shares Stevens.��“I am honored that the scholarship will offer the opportunity for other tribal students to pursue their educational goals.”

This is the first year the scholarship will be offered; it is a single recipient full-tuition scholarship for a bachelor’s or master’s degree at the SM������ and covers electronic resource fees.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must have participated in NABI in the timeframe between 2003 and 2022 and provide their year of participation.
• The scholarship application is open until October 31, 2022.

The annual Native American Basketball Invitational features teams (boys and girls, ages 14-19) comprised of athletes representing tribal communities from all over North America. The NABI basketball invitational continues to be the largest national premier all Native basketball tournament and a successful platform bringing educational messaging and programs to over 1,300 youth during NABI week.
